It may have taken its time, but recent years have at long last seen a rather important message hit home for holidaymakers from the UK – you don’t have to leave the UK to have a genuinely fantastic family holiday.

Now more than ever, families are discovering and re-discovering the true joys of the British Isles having for so many years simply assumed that the only good times to be had could be found abroad.

In fact, such is the appeal and magnetism of certain UK hotspots that they’ve managed to gain international acclaim and are drawing in spring and summer sun-seekers from all over the world.

And when it comes to ticking all of the most important ‘family fun’ boxes, it’s hard to think of anywhere better than Devon’s own Woolacombe.

What makes Woolacombe so special?

Well, the simple answer is a lot of things, but it’s fair to say that the number-one draw above and beyond everything else is the natural wonder that is Woolacombe Beach. And it’s not as if it’s just a matter of opinion for some either – Woolacombe Beach was recently voted ‘Best Beach In The UK’ by Trip Advisor readers. What’s more, it’s also appeared in a variety of world-renowned publications including The Independent, The Telegraph and The Daily Mail, having been singled out as one of the very best family beaches in the whole world.

Which prompts the obvious question – why?

Well, for one thing Woolacombe Beach is blessed with mile after mile of soft golden sand, along with sublime swimming and surfing opportunities that are suitable for kids and adults at all levels.

There’s a huge resident contingency of rock pools to explore when the tides are right, the natural scenery on all sides is quite frankly breath-taking and even in the midst of the summer when things are at their busiest, you’ll still easily find plenty of space for you and the kids to relax.

Of course, local authorities are fiercely proud and protective of their glorious assets so it’s no surprise that the beach is kept spotlessly clean. In fact, the only sore point ever mentioned by those visiting the place is that the car park just behind the beach is borderline extortionate.

It’s all for a worthy cause of course, but for the sake of saving every penny for maximum family fun, the best advice is to make sure you and the kids stay somewhere close enough to the sands to never have to bother with the car at all.

By a sizeable margin, the closest accommodation to Woolacombe Beach that’s guaranteed to tick every family fun box and more is Woolacombe Bay Park.

Superbly located, always a winner with families and surprisingly affordable, Woolacombe Bay Park represents the perfect base for a dreamy Devon getaway.

To find more accommodation and hotel options, there is this very interesting and convenient website called Travel Ticker, which have an exhaustive list of discounted hotels deals and travel packages, definitely worth checking!

Here’s a quick video to give you a little teaser:

As you can see, the location of Woolacombe Bay really is something else. Commanding incredible views over the three-mile stretch of golden sands and out toward Lundy Island, there simply isn’t another holiday park in Devon that offers these kinds of views.

Just as soon as you catch your first sunset, you’ll know you made the best possible choice!

Great Family Facilities

Some parks were adapted to meet the needs of families and young children – Woolacombe Bay Park was built from the ground up with family fun in mind!

To say there’s ‘something for everyone’ just doesn’t do the park justice as no matter what it is you’re into or your age, you’ll find dozens of wonderful amenities, facilities and entertainment options to keep you busy night and day.

  • The heated pools
  • Sea view adventure golf course
  • Safe play areas for kids
  • A 9-hole family golf course
  • Pony trekking
  • Multi-use sports field

Bonus for the grown-ups & Other facilities

For those looking to really indulge their cravings for life’s little luxuries, why not pamper yourself with a spa beauty treatment, book yourself in for a professional manicure and round it all off with a dip in the indoor hot tub?

Every night, the park bursts into life with an array of wonderful entertainment opportunities for the whole family, while the three daily kids clubs keep the youngster in the thick of it all throughout the day.

Along with a series of caravans boasting unbroken sea views, the site offers ample space for camping, a fantastic farmhouse with its own outdoor hot tub and a contingency of seaside themed luxury apartments.

And if all this wasn’t enough, those staying at Woolacombe Bay Park are also free to use the facilities and amenities of their other 3 holiday parks in Woolacombe, Devon – Easewell Farm, Twitchen House and Golden Coast.
