Sardinia Holidays: The Ultimate Things To Do List!

-I will try to make your life easier by dividing the article into sections, so you can click directly on the activity that grabs your attention first. You can always go back to the list by clicking on the “Back to top” at the end!

I created an Infographic for my Pinterest account of the top 11 things to do in Sardinia. In here I am adding some more, but feel free to repin the image if you find it a useful reminder to go back to the article or if you think it can be of help for your followers 🙂 –

SARDINIA THINGS TO DO DISCLAIMER:

Please note that the article is listing all the right things to do in Sardinia but the details are not correct as I’m working on them and the completed article will be ready asap. Thanks for your patience! In the meantime, you can Pin the Image on the left of the table of content (below) to come back when it’s done!

Being a local, born and raised in Sardinia, so many people ask me in person, via email, comments or even pigeons carrying messages sometimes, the one million dollar questions:

What are the best things to do in Sardinia?”

Where should I go first? Please, give me an idea of what to do as I don’t know where to start!

I stare at them, shaking my head as these are such broad questions, and how in the heavens would I know if someone prefers to enjoy their vacation  in one of Sardinia best beaches or spend their time in the lovely traditional villages, eating local food, spending their days popping from boat trips to another or hiking? See my dilemma here? I wanted to help but… HOW?

Then, I realized that people (like you as well) probably would simply love to have a general idea of what are, from a local’s perspective,  the best activities you can’t miss when visiting Sardinia. So, because of these non-stop requests, I decided to write this article, to make sure you know what are the must-see Sardinia point of interest.

Below I  put together my personal top list of awesome things to do in Sardinia, so that you will have an idea of what you can’t miss and, if you have enough time, you can plan on ticking all of them, if not… after your first visit you will probably schedule several follow-ups trips over the years!  (I’m warning you, it happens more often than not) 😉

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

Being my personal top list, I will be mixing things to do all over Sardinia, (which is quite big). To know more about the things to do in specific areas, I have a massive and super detailed article with 9 itineraries for visiting Sardinia in one week (Including maps). I strongly suggest you to first read this one to get a general idea and then check out the other, otherwise, it could be a very overwhelming experience! 🙂

1| DISCOVER THE GOLFO DI OROSEI

Check out this video I created to show you the most jaw-dropping beaches in the Golfo di Orosei!

Sardinia counts almost 2000 km of coastline with some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe (and in the world). I have compiled a list of my Top 10 Sardinia beaches in this article if you are interested in knowing which ones are the best from a local’s perspective. My favorite, Cala Mariolu is located in the Golfo Di Orosei  (East coast of Sardinia), the wildest and most beautiful area.

Best Golfo Di Orosei Boat Trips !

Are you based in south Sardinia but you don’t want to miss the Golfo Di Orosei fabulous beaches? Explore it with this hop-on-hop-off mini Cruise departing from Cagliari. Book Here!

sardinia-tours-boat-trip-glofo-di-orosei-gyg

If you are already around the area, just stop at one of the local agencies (or the pier kiosks) and purchase your ticket in there. Preferably a few days before the date you want to avoid the “sorry we are fully booked” nightmare!

Either way, you HAVE to try this experience, it’s one of the best things to do in Sardinia. Period! I have done it several times and I keep going there for more.

Cala Mariolu is only reachable by boat, even if there is a trekking path, but I won’t recommend it because it’s only suitabble for experts hickers. The beauty of this “touristic place in Sardinia” is the wild location, the mix in between the pristine sea and the rocks and vegetation behind it.

There is no sand but small pebbles on the beach so I recommend you to wear special shoes to avoid hurting your feet. You can also take diving classes and dive on the same day in the area. There are a few interesting grottos underneath the rock formations in the water (nothing dangerous) and it’s an additional fun activity you could try, other than relaxing and snorkeling.

As previously stated, you can dive in Cala Mariolu, so if you already have the license, bring it with you, or pay to get certified on the spot. Bonus, they will give you a pen drive with a video and pictures of your experience!

Rock Jumping

things-to-do-in-sardinia-ROCK-JUMPING-golfo-di-orosei

Being the Golfo di Orosei area very wild, some of the rocks, specially in Cala Goloritzè, are perfect for rock jumping. I recommend trying to jump from the famous arch, always be careful and have fun!
