A holiday should be about treating yourself to new and exciting things. For some people that means indulging in fantastic food, for others, it may mean relaxing on a beach or exploring a culture that they know little about. Here are 6-holiday ideas to treat yourself to this year.

1) DUBAI – UAE

Dubai is an exciting multicultural city in the United Arab Emirates. It is a fabulous place if you are looking to treat yourself. The shopping is fantastic, there are many exciting excursions to go on, and the food is absolutely fabulous. Accomplished chefs from all over the world have set up shop in this city and you can get expertly prepared food from many different cultures. It is a great place for foodies who are excited about trying new cuisine.

2) CUBA – CARIBBEANS

Cuba is a beautiful island nation in the Caribbean that is known for its beautiful beaches, its cigars, and the charming historical capital city of Havana. Spend some time wandering the streets of Havana and you will see old cars, lots of color, traveling musicians, and beautiful architecture like the baroque Cathedral de San Cristobal.

For a relaxing break, be sure to book a hotel room with a stunning view of the ocean, or if you don’t want to miss any of the action then stay in a hotel with a balcony overlooking the busy Cuban streets. As part of your itinerary, you should take a day trip to Viñales National Park in Viñales Valley, as it is one of the main tobacco producing regions in Cuba and there are plenty of activities to get involved with.

There are many exciting things to treat yourself to in Hawaii. Renting a car is a great way to travel from place to place. If you like beaches then you can visit beaches that come with black sand, white sand, or even green sand. Take a trip to the Ancient Petroglyph Fields to study ancient rock carvings.

There are three active volcanoes on the mainland and you can visit Kaloko-Honokohau National Park or Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Head down the 32km stretch of highway that has more than 600 places devoted to coffee. You can find coffee plantations, and even places to try different kinds of coffee.

5 ) TAHITI – FRENCH POLYNESIA

The islands of Tahiti located in French Polynesia in the South Pacific are the perfect place to treat yourself. You can stay in an overwater bungalow that allows you to bask in the glory of your own unspoiled view of the ocean and go snorkeling each time you step out the door. The beaches are fantastic and you can find white sand beaches, black sand beaches, stunning lagoons, and waterfalls. This one is on top of my bucket list! One day I WILL GO THERE, is a promise I made to myself and I’m going to keep it 😉

6) TIKAL – GUATEMALA

Head to Guatemala and treat yourself to the preserved Mayan ruins in Tikal National Park. The park is 575 square km of the jungle and it contains the remains of temples, palaces, homes, and other signs of the civilization that flourished here from 6th century B.C. until 10th century AD. There are accommodations in the park and you can travel around by public transportation or join guided tours to explore this fascinating site.
